Our team at Southern Arizona Neuropsychology Associates is dedicated to helping our clients, their loved ones, and their medical providers identify the nature and extent of thinking, learning, or memory problems. We also endeavor to help identify strategies and techniques to help minimize the adverse effects of any cognitive limitations.

Meet the Staff
Jill Caffrey, Ph.D.Jill Caffrey, Ph.D.Clinical Neuropsychologist

Dr. Jill Caffrey founded Southern Arizona Neuropsychology Associates in 2008 and has provided Neuropsychological Services in Tucson and surrounding areas for 18 years. Dr. Caffrey graduated from the University of Arizona and has extensive experience in working with individuals suffering from dementing illnesses and traumatic brain injuries.

Scott Belanger, Psy.D.Scott Belanger, Psy.D.Clinical Neuropsychologist

Dr. Scott Belanger is an Arizona licensed psychologist and a fellowship trained clinical neuropsychologist.  He is a member of the National Academy of Neuropsychology and American Psychological Association.  In his clinical work, he is particularly interested in distinguishing mild cognitive impairment and early dementia from the effects of normal aging. 

James Comer, Ph.D., ABPP (CN)James Comer, Ph.D., ABPP (CN)Clinical Neuropsychologist

Dr. James Comer has practiced clinical neuropsychology in Tucson since 1980. In addition to maintaining a private practice in that specialty since 1999, he served for many years as director of the Neuropsychology Assessment Program and the Doctoral Psychology Internship at the VA Medical Center in Tucson. He is certified in Clinical Neuropsychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology.

Patricia Downer, Ph.D.Patricia Downer, Ph.D.Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Patricia Downer received her doctorate  from the University of Arizona in clinical psychology with neuropsychology as her minor focus area.  She has provided counseling and supportive services to adults in medical, community, and home settings for nearly 20 years.

Karin Ahlstrand, Ph.D.Karin Ahlstrand, Ph.D.Clinical Neuropsychologist

Dr. Karin Ahlstrand has been a practicing clinical neuropsychologist in the State of Arizona since 2005. She received her master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Colorado at Denver and completed her doctoral training at the University of Denver. She subsequently completed a clinical neuropsychology fellowship at the University of Oklahoma – Health Sciences Center. Dr. Ahlstrand specializes in adult neuropsychology, with particular interests including dementing illnesses and differentiation of psychiatric and neurologic conditions.
